Viktor Orban has been defeated, let Aleksandar Vučić get ready
Two years ago, an unexpected alternative appeared in Serbia, which shows the strength to overthrow Vučić
How to defeat an autocracy similar to the Serbian one was shown by Peter the Magyar with his young Tisa party. He convincingly defeated Viktor Orbán, who was supported by both Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, despite the regime’s control of the media in the misuse of state resources.
Just two years ago it seemed impossible, but today it is freedom Hungary celebrates the departure of an undemocratic and highly corrupt regime that was all-powerful until recently Viktor Orban and his Fidesz, which for many years firmly held the reins of power in the neighboring country.
If it is not achieved through democratic means, long-term rule carries with it a double curse. It destroys society, creates arrogant and born-again elites, implements repression, control over the media, forms a pyramid of corruption that defends itself by all means and leaves behind a broken state, most often associated with organized crime.
On the other hand, long-term power is a trap for the rulers themselves. They think that they will rule forever, so they produce countless affairs that ultimately make it impossible for them to peacefully, after the fall, continue to engage in politics, as some kind of legitimate opposition.
It is very difficult to imagine that, after 16 years of shaking Hungary, former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will be an opposition politician in a little while, regardless of the fact that his party will still have a large number of deputies in the state parliament. Rather, it will be that he will end up with numerous indictments, and maybe even move to another country that is friendly to him, until he sees where things go.
At this moment, it is not yet certain whether Tisa, the party of Peter Magyar, the future Hungarian prime minister, will have a two-thirds majority in the parliament. It is needed in order to change the Constitution of Hungary and pass key laws, which require a two-thirds majority, and which are again necessary to “clean up” the negative consequences of Orbán’s rule as soon as possible.
But, again, as a rule, clientist parties like Fidesz disintegrate into micro-particles after falling from power, and it is quite certain that many members of this party will offer their services to Peter Magyar.
As in Serbia, the “classic” opposition parties in Hungary were denounced, either because of subjective weaknesses or because of the Orbán propaganda machine that was directed towards them.
As in Serbia, two years ago an unexpected political alternative emerged in Hungary, Fidesz official Peter Magyar, whose one interview reached millions of viewers, in which he criticized the authorities and presented himself as a credible fighter against corruption and Orbán’s abuse of power.
In a short time, he managed to gather old opponents of the regime and disillusioned Orbanists. He showed that he has charisma, but also that he has surrounded himself with people who know the political techniques and weaknesses of the regime. He defeated not only Orban, but also media blockades and election fraud, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
He stepped on, so to speak, Orban like a shipping frog.
It has been said a million times that Orban’s and Vučić’s regimes are twin brothers, with the fact that the one in Hungary is more civilized and more gloved. In the end, he doesn’t steal elections so arrogantly.
Two years ago, an unexpected alternative appeared in Serbia, which shows the strength to overthrow Vučić.
But we should learn from the Hungarians. In order to overthrow such regimes, it is necessary to work hard, avoid moral panics, expand the opposition corps and have political knowledge. /Vreme/
